Moinet-Vichy-Santé

The story of the pastille began in Vichy in 1825 when Monsieur DARCET mixed mineral salts from Vichy water with sugar to make the famous, then oval shaped, sweet

It became octagonal in 1857.

From this period onwards several manufacturers in Vichy and the region (the hydrological Vichy basin) produced this speciality: the VICHY pastille or the VICHY BASIN pastille.

Source In 1932, MOINET sweet manufacturers became the owners of the Roger Spring situated in HAUTERIVE, 5kms from VICHY, in the hydrological basin and started up production. The water from this spring is to be found 70m underground and the extracted mineral salts are incorporated into the pastille.

In 1955 production was industrialised. The reduced number of pastilles which were punched out of a soft mixture on tables and then oven dried were now compressed from a dry granulate in automatic rotating compressors.

.Consequently production increased substantially.

.In 1978 MOINET VICHY SANTÉ is one of the 2 remaining manufacturers.

In 1999 the M.V.S. pastille production unit is transferred from the VICHY Basin to the biopark site in HAUTERIVE.
